POV: YOU’RE WORKING ON DM.

Howdy,

First off, apologies for the soft push to the 1st; we just wanted to add a few last minute things to the post to really spice it up. Things have been pretty busy over here at QIS. Let’s just jump right in.

zombies!

Everyone’s favorite flesh-eater.

Okay, we can’t show much… or anything yet really but I can tell you about it. The zombie AI or ZAI (as I like to call it😏) has been upgraded to new heights.

The ZAI has been built up with a cumulative interest, and target interest properties. From a design perspective, it was to plan the different behaviors of the infected depending on the different targets they can have. This includes varying sounds and movement they can perceive; the environment, such as obstacles to interact with and how that’ll effect their movement and desire to find said target. If you boil it down, they’re basically just a lot more realistic.

Unfortunately, that’s about all I’m allowed to say until the next update.😉

traders!

ITS THE LAW OF SUPPLY & DEMAND!

Traders can be found in the world… sorta?

Yes! The traders are ready to go in Dominion but will be joining the world of Dead Matter in the next update. For now, here’s a little information about what they tend to buy and sell.

“I may have you gamble your life for me, but at least I can get you the safest gear.” - Blackjack.

Harrison “Blackjack” McAfee is the weapons, ammo, clothing and armor trader. Follow his questline, putting yourself in a fair amount of danger. Between killing infected, other players and launching rescue missions—we hope you can find out the fate of his dear friend Pvt. John Linder.

“The grass is always greener in Dominion. At least while I’m around.” - Cowboy

John “Cowboy” Davis is our food, medicine, toolbelt items and miscellaneous things expert. Cowboy‘s quests have players scouting locations for supplies or retrieving cargo using vehicles lent from him. Will you be able to get your hands on some sensitive genetic samples from a lab site somewhere?

“My family bought me this storage unit to move my stuff into, but I just used it to add to my collection.” - Unnamed Junk Vendor

Not entirely fleshed out yet, but will consist of mostly miscellaneous and junk-type items.

user interface!

BEEP. BOOP. bzzt. BEEP. UI at 50% completion. bzzt. BOOP.

Crafting UI.

A better, and sleeker crafting UI system has been implemented and honestly, it’s pretty nice. This new UI will service both crafting and claiming buildings in future updates.

Tooltip UI.

By enhancing our tooltip UI, we’re able to better provide core gameplay information to the player.

Information about equippable items like clothing will display the storage that piece provides as well as the resistances to certain types of damages such as fire, slashes or blunt damage.

We’re also currently working on a better tooltip for consumable items as well as medicinal items in the same way equippables work.

New Clothing!

Better than a thrift shop.

Though downsized from 2021, the character art team has been hard at work since we returned in January. Uday, our character artist, has been hard at work producing content for our next update, and making major headway into finishing off our clothing goals for early access.

From cowboy boots to ballistic masks, the list is getting smaller and smaller. Payton, our lead character artist, has been spending time updating legacy assets to our modernized pipelines, coordinating with our technical team on creating a robust master material for our player and infected clothing, and has implemented the entire roster of clothing that was created over the last year.

As we get closer to our early access launch, our character art team is very excited to start working in the wonderful world of infected and NPC’s, creating the garb of our colorful character cast, and bringing to life the gory shamblers and shriekers that wander the apocalyptic Albertan landscapes.

updated locations!

Bring it arrrrround towwwn.

You can expect another update next month, and for the indefinite future. Hopefully you’re just as excited as we are.

Early Access is approaching fast but with the time left, we hope to get as much packed into the game as possible!

I hope to see you in the apocalypse… but you better hope you don’t see me. 😉

Peace. -Jimmy
